PSV Eindhoven and the Netherlands forward Cody Gakpo still ‘keen’ on move to Manchester United
Cody Gakpo, PSV Eindhoven and the Netherlands star, is still ‘keen’ on a move to Manchester United after interest in the recent transfer window, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano on Twitter.
In the summer of 2022, the 23-year-old was looking forward to joining the Red Devils. However, a deal did not end up materialising. However, that has seemingly not deterred the forward’s spirits.
The Holland international has not changed his mind about making his way to the Old Trafford side. Gakpo is still eyeing a transfer to play at the Theatre of Dreams. The Manchester-based club have always had positive talks with the 23-year-old’s representatives.
However, the decision is in the Red Devils’ hands. The Old Trafford side have to decide whether they want to invest €55–€60 million to acquire the Holland international’s signature.
Gakpo has been in fine form for both club and country in the current campaign. He has scored 13 goals and provided 17 assists in 24 appearances for the Red and Whites this season.
The 23-year-old also shone for the Netherlands at the World Cup in Qatar. He scored in every group stage fixture and played a part in every fixture for Louis van Gaal’s team in their run to the quarter-finals of the prestigious tournament.
In the recent transfer window, United signed Antony from Ajax to bolster the front line. The 22-year-old has done well in his short time in Manchester. The Brazilian found the back of the net in each of his first three Premier League games.
However, Cristiano Ronaldo recently departed the club. The 37-year-old’s departure from the Old Trafford side has dwindled the squad’s depth in the attack.

Therefore, we evidently need to add a forward to the side. Gakpo seems like a wise option considering the success the Dutch manager has had with bringing the likes of Tyrell Malacia, Lisandro Martinez and Antony from the Eredivisie.
