Nottingham Forest are close to agreeing a deal for Manchester United winger Anthony Elanga

According to The Telegraph (h/t Manchester Evening News), Manchester United youngster Anthony Elanga has agreed to a permanent move to Nottingham Forest.

Elanga was one of the breakout stars under Ralf Rangnick but failed to make the first-team cut under Erik Ten Hag and was one of the players that could be allowed to leave on the right fee.

It is important to keep in mind that United need to urgently raise funds through player sales to do more transfer incomings and even if Elanga was not a priority sell, he is one of the few players who generated interest and could recoup a decent fee.

Everton were also in the race for the Swede International but he rejected it in favour of joining Steve Cooper’s side who survived their first year back in the Premier League and look set to build on from that.

While choosing between the two aforementioned teams, Elanga has made the right decision to go to Nottingham as the team’s style of play will suit them more than Everton’s.

With Sean Dyche at the realm at Everton and the off-field issues surrounding the club, Goodison Park is not an attractive place at the moment which can be signified by how former club graduate James Garner’s career has fared so far there.

Everton might again be in the relegation battle this season while Nottingham will aim to finish in the top half of the table and hence the club objectives would be completely different.

On top of that, looking from United’s perspective, they have a good relationship with Nottingham having seen Jesse Lingard make the switch last summer while Dean Henderson has been sent on loan twice.
