New England Revolution shot-stopper Djordje Petrovic being heavily scouted by Manchester United
Manchester United are ‘heavily scouting’ Major League outfit side New England Revolution star Djordje Petrovic, according to MLS and USMNT Insider Tom Bogert on Twitter (h/t Manchester Evening News).
However, as of yet, there has been no official contact between the American outfit and the Red Devils for the Serbia international. Will we begin negotiations for the youngster? Only time will tell.
The 23-year-old is seen as one of the best shot-stoppers in the MLS. In the previous campaign, he was a finalist for the league’s goalkeeper of the year.
Petrovic signed for New England in 2022 from FK Cukaricki in Serbia. He rose through the ranks at the Mozzart Bet Super League outfit and has done well in America. So far, the shot-stopper has made 23 appearances in all competitions for the MLS side, keeping seven clean sheets.
At the moment, David de Gea is United’s number one. The 32-year-old has been in fine form for the Red Devils since last season, pulling off some exceptional saves.
The Spain international had a rough start to life under Erik ten Hag. However, he has quickly turned things around at the Manchester-based club with some clutch performances.
De Gea signed for United from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2011. Since then, the Spaniard has had a mixed career at the Old Trafford side.
At the moment, the 32-year-old is backed up by Tom Heaton and Jack Butland. The two English goalkeepers have not seen much game time for the Red Devils and are not young anymore.

Therefore, it would be wise to get a talented and potential star like Petrovic at the Manchester-based club. However, it remains to be seen whether we will go beyond monitoring the 23-year-old and will pursue his signature in the coming future.
