Neil Warnock claims legendary Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson would not be in his Top 3 managers in the Premier League

Speaking to talkSPORT, as quoted by the Daily Star (h/t Manchester Evening News), Neil Warnock has snubbed legendary Manchester United manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, in his list of the Top 3 managers in the Premier League.

The Red Devils may not be in the best shape right now, but things were not always like this. A decade ago, they were ruling the roost and were consistently challenging for major trophies.

Sir Alex Ferguson was at the epicentre of all of this. The iconic manager guided the club to 13 Premier League titles since its inception in 1992. During this time, he also won two Champions League titles and narrowly lost out twice as well.

However, despite all of this, former Championship manager Neil Warnock believes Arsene Wenger, Pep Guardiola, and Jurgen Klopp are better than the 79-year-old.

“Since the Premier League started, if I was picking my top five managers … I would pick Arsene Wenger as the number one… His (Guardiola) influence on the parks and the lower down leagues has been fantastic. I would put Klopp third because I think he’s just beginning, and he will get even better.

“Fourth, I would probably go with Sir Alex [Ferguson] just in front of Jose Mourinho because he has done it for longer. I just think he was in an era where it was all about man-management, it wasn’t down to all the backroom staff, and Sir Alex was probably the best at that.”

Jose Mourinho was the fifth and last man on the list. However, it seems as though the legendary Scot’s achievements have been overlooked. For all their achievements, Wenger never won the Champions League while Jurgen Klopp has only won the league once.

Regardless, his time in the Premier League put us on the ‘perch’ and made us the most successful club in the history of English football. He retired in 2013 after winning the league title, and the Red Devils are yet to win one again.
