Luis Suarez had a Manchester United transfer clause in Barcelona contract
According to ESPN, Barcelona star Luis Suarez had a transfer clause regarding Manchester United in his contract.
The former Liverpool star was ineligible to join United as per the terms of the deal. The other clubs on the embargo list include Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.
As per transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the striker is now set to join Atletico Madrid. It is surprising that Barcelona left out their local rivals from the list.
Luis Suarez deal has been also signed between Barcelona and Atlético Madrid. Luis told his team mates he’s gonna leave #FCB. Atléti are now prepared to announce soon their new signing. Confirmed. 🇺🇾 #Atleti #LuisSuarez https://t.co/GfEKKL6E9p

The clause prevents the 33-year-old from signing for the Red Devils for free. With Ronald Koeman taking over, Suarez looks set to end his career at the Nou Camp.
Despite his advanced age, he remains a formidable player. He is also not short of any suitors, with Italian champions Juventus also interested.
That transfer story, however, was put to bed after reports that the Uruguayan had cheated in his Italian language test.
Given the history Suarez has with United, it would have been a surprise if we made a move to land him.
The striker was involved in the highly publicized racism incident involving Patrice Evra. Given the standing the Frenchman has with the United fans, any move to sign Suarez would not have been welcome.
Unfortunately for Barcelona, it now looks like they will end up strengthening a direct rival. Having contributed to their rise in the past few years, he will now appear against them this season.
