Former Spain manager Luis Enrique jokingly rules out links to Manchester United job after Solskjaer sacking

According to La Sexta (h/t Fabrizio Romano), former Barcelona manager Luis Enrique jokingly ruled out links to the vacant Manchester United managerial hot-seat.

The Man United board put the nail on the coffin of Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s managerial reign yesterday with the sacking of the Norweigian. It was not the start of the season that the United fans anticipated. With only one win in the last seven games, the manager has recently faced backlash from his home fans.

The English Club revealed a statement for future plans. It seems Ed Woodward’s board is planning to rely on an interim manager for the season as they are hoping to get a permanent solution in the following summer.

Luis Enrique has been linked with the role recently and apparently, Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo wants him to take over the reins at Old Trafford. The Portuguese player played against the Spaniard’s team during his Real Madrid days before Enrique took over as manager of the Spain national team.

When asked about the links in a recent interview, the former Barcelona manager laughed off hearing the question and humorously ruled out any possibility for a United move at this moment.

The Spanish manager has a lot of experience in club football managing FC Barcelona, and he also won 2 league titles and 1 Champions League with the Catalan team. But it seems currently he is focused on the job at hand.

It is believed that the 51-year-old manager is ‘not planning’ to give up his current head role at the Spain national team. Any move to Old Trafford seems highly unlikely as he is ‘so happy’ at Spain and won’t be moving to a foreign country anytime soon.
