Dani Alves praises ‘world-class’ Fred and believes the problem at Manchester United is Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
Speaking in an interview (h/t The Sun), Brazil legend Dani Alves has heaped praise on Manchester United star Fred and believes the blame for the player’s poor form at club level is on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The 28-year-old signed for the Old Trafford outfit back in 2018 under the stewardship of Jose Mourinho. However, the Portuguese had to depart mid-season, after which Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was appointed at the helm.
Although Fred has still managed well over 100 appearances in the last three years, he has come under criticism this season for his performances. The Red Devils have not fared well since the end of the international break in September as they have only picked up 2 victories in the last 8 games.
However, Fred’s former international teammate, Dani Alves, believes that the midfielder should not be blamed for this as it is either the club’s fault or the coach’s fault. Alves told reporters in an interview (h/t The Sun):
“Every Brazilian becomes world-class when wearing the national team jersey. I hear so many people complaining about Fred. But when he plays for Brazil, he is better than all of their midfielders. The problem is the club or coach, not Fred.”
The former Shakhtar Donetsk man has been indispensable for his country and often features in their first-team. However, he has already made a couple of mistakes with United this season, quite notably against Wolves and Everton.
