Alex McLeish believes Kalvin Phillips will join Manchester United from Leeds United

Speaking to Football Insider’s Russel Edge, Former Scotland manager Alex McLeish has claimed that it would be hard for Leeds United ace Kalvin Phillips to turn down Manchester United as the Red Devils want to sort a transfer out.

The 25-year-old has been the cornerstone of all the good things Leeds United did last season as he dictated play and ran the hard yards under Marcelo Bielsa.

His performances were also appreciated by England manager Gareth Southgate, who made him a pivotal figure in the midfield for the Three Lions at the Euros. Phillips has not dropped any levels this season and is continuing to impress in the famous white jersey.

However, Manchester United now want to complete a move for the Englishman and they are planning to get a deal over the line in January itself, according to the information provided to Football Insider by a Leeds source.

Former Scotland manager Alex McLeish has now weighed in on the topic as he believes it will be hard for the 25-year-old to reject Manchester United. McLeish told Football Insider’s Russel Edge:

“It will be tough for him to turn it down, 100%. Jack Grealish was a fan of Aston Villa all his life, but he had his head turned by a dominant club like Manchester City. It’s the same thing – if United come and go all the way with their interest, it is hard for him to stay.”
