Player News: Anthony Martial returns to Manchester United training

According to French publication L’Equipe (h/t Sport Witness), Manchester United star Anthony Martial has already returned to training.

The Frenchman has not featured for the Red Devils since their 3-1 FA Cup defeat at the hands of Leicester City in March. He then went away with the French national team where he picked up the injury.

United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer later admitted that the player is a doubt for the remainder of the season. However, it would appear that we might get to see him in action sooner than expected.

Despite returning to training, Martial is unlikely to take the field against AS Roma and even Aston Villa at the weekend. While he is not ready to take the field, it is good to see him making progress.

The report also goes on to claim that he remains a possibility to feature in the remainder of our Premier League games this season. Whether that will be the case remains to be seen.

Either way, it is a boost for the player and his aspirations to feature in this summer’s European Championships. Having missed out on France’s 2018 World Cup win, he will be keen to make up for lost opportunities.

The report has gone on to add that Martial’s return could be down to two reasons. Either the miracles worked by United’s medical team or maybe the injury wasn’t as bad as originally feared.

Martial enjoyed his best campaign in a United jersey last season. He has however failed to carry it forward. His seven goals and eight assists in 36 appearances is a far cry from the chart-topping performances he put up last season. (h/t Transfermarkt)
